Three cricket formats and popular tournaments

Different cricket formats mean different types of excitement, different strategies, and different things to keep in mind when it comes to betting.

T20

The fastest format — more runs per over, and matches finish within a few hours. BPL and IPL are played in this format, making it the most familiar to local fans. In T20, a match can turn around in just a few balls, which makes live betting especially lively here.

ODI (One Day International)

A fifty-over match tests planning and patience more. Bangladesh has the greatest interest in the Tigers' ICC ODI series and T20 World Cup. In this format, betting on the top batsman or top bowler market is quite common.

Test Cricket

A five-day game — weather, pitch conditions and team balance all influence the result. In Test cricket, a draw is a possible outcome, so the markets are a little different.

BPL is Bangladesh's own Twenty20 league — domestic stars and overseas players come together to make every season exciting. IPL is India's biggest Twenty20 event — it has countless fans in Bangladesh too. And when the Tigers play in the T20 World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy or Asia Cup, the excitement is on another level.

Football betting is also available at 111 taka, though it is a somewhat different experience. Where cricket has wicket, over and run markets, football has goal, corner and handicap markets. If you are also interested in casino games, you will find slots, live casino and much more at 111 taka Casino.

Popular cricket betting markets

A match has many types of markets — you can bet not just on the result, but on smaller events within the game. Seven familiar markets are briefly explained below.

Match Winner

A bet on which of the two teams will win. In T20 or ODI there are only two outcomes — Team A wins or Team B wins. In Test cricket, draw is also a third option.

Simplest market

Toss Winner

A bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. The result is entirely down to chance, so odds for both teams are usually close to each other.

Short odds market

Top Batsman

Which batter in a given team will score the most runs in a specific innings. You need to pick the highest scorer from within the team — multiple players are available as options.

Innings based

Total Runs — Over/Under

A bet on whether the total runs in a match or innings will be more (over) or less (under) than a set number. For example, you can bet on whether total runs in an innings will exceed 160.

Runs-based bet

Multi Bet

A single bet combining multiple matches or markets. If every selection is correct, the odds multiply and the return increases. For example, three selections at odds of 1.50 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.59 — a ৳100 bet returns ৳459, but if even one selection is wrong the entire bet is lost.

Combined bet

Top Bowler

A bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in a match or innings. If wickets fall quickly, this market's odds change fast in live betting.

Bowling performance

Powerplay Runs

A bet on how many runs a team will score in the first six overs (powerplay) of a T20 match. Batting conditions and the form of the team's openers are important here.

Decimal, fractional and American odds

Odds on betting sites are written in three different formats — decimal, fractional and American. All three convey the same information, just expressed differently.

Example 1 — Same odds in three formats (Team A wins, stake ৳1,000):
Decimal 2.50 = Fractional 3/2 = American +150. If you win, total return is ৳2,500 (৳1,500 profit + ৳1,000 original stake). If you lose, ৳1,000 is gone.
Example 2 — Favourite's odds (Team B wins, stake ৳1,000):
Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American -400. American minus odds show how much you need to stake to make a profit of 100. A ৳1,000 stake returns ৳1,250 (৳250 profit).

The decimal format is the most straightforward — multiply the odds figure by your stake to get the total return. Most players in Bangladesh are comfortable with this format.

Format Team A win odds Team B win odds How to read
Decimal 2.50 1.25 Multiply directly by your stake
Fractional 3/2 1/4 Numerator = profit, denominator = stake ratio
American +150 -400 + means profit on 100; - means stake needed for 100 profit

Live betting — odds change with every wicket

LIVE

In-play or live betting means placing bets while a match is in progress. In this type of betting, odds are updated instantly after every wicket, every big shot or every run-out.

Say Team A has scored 80 runs for 4 wickets in 10 overs of a T20 match. They need 90+ runs in just 10 overs with only 4 wickets left — in this situation, Team A's odds in the match winner market will be higher than before (meaning their chance of winning is considered lower), and Team B's odds will shorten.

Similarly, if a team loses 2 wickets and scores only 30 runs in the powerplay, the odds on the under side in the total runs market may shorten. In live betting you have to make decisions quickly — so it is important to read the market carefully before placing a bet.

Useful betting tips

Cricket betting is a form of entertainment. Keeping the tips below in mind will make the experience easier.

  • 01 Understand one market well first, then place your bet. Starting with match winner and gradually moving to other markets is the sensible approach.
  • 02 Set a budget — decide in advance how much you will bet. Betting is a form of entertainment, not a way to earn income.
  • 03 It is better not to rush in live betting. Odds change fast, so place your bet once the market has settled.
  • 04 Multi bets offer higher returns, but if one selection is wrong you lose the entire bet. Start with fewer selections.
  • 05 Read our terms and conditions to have a clear understanding of the rules around betting.

Football and Other Sports

Alongside cricket, you can also bet on football at 111 taka. Football offers handicap, corner and both teams to score markets — a slightly different experience compared to cricket.

Common questions about cricket betting

T20 offers powerplay runs, match and innings-based markets, and live odds change the fastest. ODI has separate markets for each of the two innings. In Test cricket, a draw is a possible result, so the match winner market has three options — Team A wins, Team B wins, or draw. Test matches also have session-based markets that are not available in T20.

A multi bet combines two or more selections together. The odds of each selection are multiplied. For example, if three selections have odds of 1.50, 1.70 and 1.80, the combined odds are 1.50 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.59 (approximately). A ৳100 bet would then return ৳459 — but all three selections must be correct. If even one is wrong, the entire ৳100 is lost.

In live betting, the match situation changes after every ball, every wicket or a big shot. If the bowling team suddenly takes a wicket, the batting team's chance of winning drops — so the batting team's match winner odds go up and the bowling team's odds go down. Odds are updated by calculating run rate, remaining wickets and overs all at once.

Both BPL and IPL are T20 format tournaments, so match winner and total runs (over/under) attract the most bets. Toss winner, powerplay runs and top batsman markets are also well known. In live betting, odds are updated every over across these tournaments.

Calculating decimal odds is straightforward — multiply the odds figure by the stake to get the total return (including the original stake). Example: Team A's odds are 2.50, stake ৳1,000 — return is 2.50 × ৳1,000 = ৳2,500 (of which ৳1,500 is profit). If Team B's odds are 1.25, a ৳1,000 stake returns ৳1,250 (৳250 profit).
